Yeah, I'm working through s2 on DVD. I haven't watched any of the extras as yet, but I hear there is an awesome featurette on the last disc about Robert Johnson and the myth behind Crossroad Blues, which I'm very excited about!

I loved this episode the first time I saw it, and even now, with my fourth watching, it still rocks. But now watching the eps in quick succession, DUDE, this episode is all about Dean and his Dad. And it really shows how Dean and Sam have traded places in caring about saving people. The Dean Pain Threshold is just... Yeah.

	Hee to the icon! Yeah for a season supposedly focused on Sam's potential evilness, it certainly had a lot of standout stuff for Dean. Of course John's loss would hit him particularly hard. I wonder though if part of it isn't the fact that JA is the stronger actor and the writers are increasingly writing to him. I guess we'll see if that continues this season. I adore this icon, SO much! *G* I glee'd when I found it.

Oh, and definitely. NOW I get why people often write Dean more gruff, because he is just so angry. I've seen people call it character assassination, as opposed to how he was in first season, but dude, no. It's just because he cares SO much and is in so much pain. And it levels out again later. Anyway...

They're both very strong actors, and Jared is great at expressing, but yeah, I do think Jensen carries a lot more levels. I'd love to see Jared get challenged more though. They both fucking wrecked me in "Heart" at the end, I'll tell you what.

I know what you mean, that flinch of Jensen's was a moment that just caught me. I think Jared's strongest moments were in the first 2 episodes of the season though. I thought IMToD was a really good episode all the way around, maybe the best SPN one so far. And I thought their arguments about John in ELaC were well done as well.

I think some of it comes down to the fact that Jensen's just the more experienced actor, not just because he's older and done it longer but because he's also done more work.

I agree, both those episodes were stellar, some of the best, most definitely.

Sometimes, I'm not sure if it's just that Jensen gets to play more range on the show, though. Sam's kind of steady in his characterization, Dean gets to play both sides of the fence between good and "bad". Or maybe you're right and they write it that way because Jensen's already better.
