Hellhound on my Trail
I just finished watching Crossroad Blues again. OMG. I LOVE THIS SHOW. The foreshadowing in that ep as compared to this seasons arc is AMAZING. Kripke is approaching God status in my mind. The way Dean relates to the old man who's tired and ready to die, the way he semi-sympathizes with Evan but then tells Evan off for having to leave his wife behind--which is the only reason Dean helps him so willingly. So Evan's wife won't have to suffer, living without Evan.
And then he turns around and does the same damned thing in AHBL Pt.2 and has the nerve to keep telling Sam to let him go. JESUS. You KNOW he's breaking up inside.
Crossroad fucking Blues man. That's where it all really begins, and every time I watch the ep I'm more and more awed by the genius of foreshadowing they managed to fit into that single episode.
How the old man says "He's tired" to Sam, that he's ready to go, and Dean looks like he understands that. And then how Dean says the same thing to Sam this year in the premiere. And "doesn't everybody wanna be great?", guh, the look on Dean's face. And how Sam's line this week, "Watch your mouth", echoed Dean's "Shut your mouth bitch" from Crossroad Blues.
And right in the middle of Dean berating Evan, Soleil turns and looks and me and says "But... isn't that exactly what Dean does at the end of the season?" And I said, "Yep. That's why it's so freaking awesome."
I have a feeling I will be returning to this ep a lot over the course of Season 3.
EEEEEEEEE! SHOW! How I LOVE you!
