We're Gonna Need to Go Ahead and Move You Downstairs Into Storage B...
You know, at some point over the years, I stopped hearing "department shift" and "new and exciting" and started hearing "holy shit, look out!" and "you're about to lose your job". I wonder when and why this shift to gloom and doom occurred? I suspect it only took one occurrence, whatever it was.

The part that's really sad? I've been through so many department/responsibility shifts where I preemptively freaked out and nothing happened that now I STAND on the instinct to freak out and tell myself I'm being ridiculous.

This is when the other shoe usually falls.

And also, do these responsibility shifts track with my career goals? Is this the direction I really want to go in? I feel rather ambivalent (hint: the answer is always "Yes; if you pay me more money.")

Sadly, more money does not appear to be forthcoming. Looks like I've got a couple of interesting months ahead, though.

Yeah this is a problem. Sometimes it can be a good thing in disguise, such as when a field is shifting in a certain direction and you end up getting experience in that area. Other times it's a bad thing for the opposite reason.

Hope it will all work out.
